Day 28 {Ballet}

I watched some of Kate's pre pointe ballet class tonight.  I am impressed by how much she has improved in the past 4 months.  She is turning into quite the ballerina.

Like the texture?  You can find it here!

Day 27 {The bottom of the bag}

It always kind of annoys me that the kids never eat the last bits of cereal.  Why do they always do that?

Well, I dared reach into the ignored bag of Footloops and discovered why were still hanging out in my pantry.  They were stale! Yuck!

Day 26 {Self Portrait}

Today was a me kind of a day so why not end it with a self portrait.

Which reminds me to remind you........don't forget to snap a shot of yourself every now and then.

{PS: the tattoo isn't real!}

**the editing on day 23's shot was done in Photoshop CS3.**

Day's 23 thru 25

Day 25 {Polymer clay anyone?}

After spending a good portion of my day figuring out our new insurance and scheduling a ton of appointments I dragged out my polymer clay and did a little scupley sculpting. I'd show you what I am making, but it isn't done!

Day 24 {Bye bye Little Mermaid and friends}

Sunday I set Kate up so that she could sand off the Little Mermaid images I so lovingly applied 12 years ago. After sanding she painted the outside of the drawers turquoise and I decoupaged the scrapbook papers she selected to the fronts of the drawers. A very cute update.

I didn't realize until I downloaded this shot that you can see the paper bits flying off from under the sander (but I did feel them). I guess that would be why they recommend safety goggles.

Day 23 {The sun will come out.......}

Beautiful day. After hitting the scrapbook store we did some antique shopping. We couldn't help but walk to the end of the street to see if the waves were still big. Still big-ish, but nothing like a few days ago.

Day 22 {Sudden burst}

A block away from this shot it was dry and sunny!

Day 21 {Rain, rain go away.....}

I enjoy the rain, but enough already!

This is a shot out of my living room window around noon (on Thursday). It was coming down so hard a small lake quickly formed in the back yard.

Fortunately my house sits on a raised foundation so there isn't any risk of the newly formed lake moving into the house.

Day 20 {Southern California Storms}

Last year if we had rain (during the waking hours) I made of point of making the rain a part of my picture of the day. It wasn't a hard task to accomplish because I believe it rained around 5 times last year.

I'm pretty sure that it has rained more this week than it did all of last year!

Day 19 {Could this be art?}

Several months ago a neighbor at the far end of our street set out this old painted trash can. I thought it was kind of "fun" but I wondered if they set it out hoping the trash truck would take it away.

It was never taken away and now I wonder why in the heck it is still sitting on the curb. If we were in an urban setting I might get it, but this is the burbs!

Of course if I had the choice to look at the striped trash can everyday over the boat my next door neighbor has illegally parked on the street, I'd take the trash can.

Mellow Yellow

Day 18 {Let there be rain}

Proof that we don't always have 75 degree weather in Southern California.

It's gray, it's wet and it's really windy.

Don't the flowers kind of look like little traffic cones.

Day 17 {Corn on the cob}

This is what you get when I wait until the end of the day to take a picture.

Day 16 {Room rearrange}

New comforter, new curtains and a rearranged room equals one happy 11 year old.

Day 16 {Poodle leg warmers}

Our standard poodle Xena (the poodle princess warrior) is nearly 5 years old. We have had her since she was a puppy but despite my best efforts the dang dog hates being brushed. This means that once her fur gets a little bit long, if you don't brush her daily she gets matted.

So most of the time we keep her cut short. Well, I finally forced the dog to let me brush her and was able to keep her legs mat free long enough to get me two pairs of poodle with leg warmers!!!!

Woooohooo! Aren't they cute?

I have been playing with using textures in CS3. Textures are addicting!
The "free" textures I used on this shot are from Sketelmess on Flickr.

14 down 351 to go!

Day 14 {Running errands}

I am trying out a new groomer that is down by the beach. So after dropping off the poodle I went for a walk along the cliffs. Such a gorgeous day.

Day 13 {Getting a little artsy fartsy}

After looking through an old copies of Cloth Paper Scissors I decided to drag out my paints and see if I could create some interesting backgrounds for some multimedia collages I would like to embark on.

After I took this shot I ended up adding more layers. Let's just say, it's a start!

Day 12 {Jump}

A treat for Molly and one for her shadow!

Day 11 {Visiting the VP}

Today was a first for me. I had to go to the Vice Principles office to ask for my daughters confiscated phone back. Normally something like this would result in my daughter getting into a lot of trouble (she has never actually been in trouble), but she got caught responding to my text!

Whoops!

Our Weekend at Horse Camp

After 2 years of selling girl scout cookies and reaching their goal of raising $2035.00, my troop FINALLY got to enjoy a weekend at a Horse Riding Camp.

It was an absolutely gorgeous weekend and a fun time was had by all (even me)!

****************

Day 10 {Skip to my lou}

After a full Friday night and even fuller Saturday, the girls happily skipped off for another fun filled day. Sleeping in a cabin, having private showers, and someone cooking yummy food for you...now that is my kind of "girl scout weekend."

Day 9 {Yee Haw......Ridem Cowgirl}

The girls had a total of 3 riding lessons over the weekend. It always amazes me to see how quickly the girls gain confidence sitting up on those giant animals.

Day 8 {The Old West}

The Ranch was set up to look like an old western town. It was so adorable. My girls however were not impressed with all the "No Women Allowed" signs.

Day 7 {Little Italy}

After running my errands down in Little Italy I stopped in at Sulunto's to get one of the best Italian Subs around. It was really hard to resist buying some of their yummy looking desserts.

Day 6 {What Being Green Smells Like}

It smells like stale beer and moldy soda!

I finally got around to taking some left over cans and bottles to the recycling center at the landfill. Sorting cans and bottles into putrid smelling trash cans is enough to induce uncontrolled vomiting and not worth the $16.00 I earned for my efforts.

Day 5 {Barbie's been evicted}

Kate complained that her room was feeling too cluttered, so we decided that maybe the box of abandoned Barbies and Littlest Pet Shop toys should be given away.

She wasn't ready to say goodbye to Barbie so instead they are going to live in the garage.......which is close enough to the curb to make any plastic girl with a perfect figure a little bit nervous.

Day 4 {Something old or something new?}

Nearly everyday I drive past the park that is located down the street from our house. Currently, most of the oak trees have been stripped bare of their leaves.

I love the way the bare branches look against the sky as I drive by. So today I stopped to get a shot. I was surprised when I saw this lone leaf on an otherwise bare tree.

I wondered......is the leaf old or is it new?

Day 3 {Hollywoooooooood}

I have lived in southern California my entire 42 years and never once have I been to Hollywood. Until today. We all took a trip up north to walk the streets of Hollywood Blvd and take in the wacky sites to be had. It was fun, but it isn't something I would need to do again anytime soon.

Day 2 {Saturday night dinner out}

We almost always eat out on Saturday's. Tonight we ate at the best tamale making joint in all of San Diego, Ortega's.

Day 1 {1st Sunset of the year}

And so it begins.......another 365 project with me waiting until the last minute to take a picture for the day.

Thank you to my husband who reminded me by asking if I had captured the first sunset of the new year.
