Day 141 thru 144

Day 144 {Getting crafty}

Feeling inspired by a project on the cover of the May/June issue of Cloth Paper & Scissors I dragged out my craft supplies and got to work.

I loved the colors of the cover art so much that I am pretty much copying the look.  I don't have a lot of experience with mixing paint colors so it helps to be able to follow someone's lead.  That is usually all it takes to get my own creative juices flowing.

I'm just waiting for the gel medium to dry before I can move on to painting.  If you want to see what the magazines finished project looks like just click on the link above.  If mine turns out well I'll share it later this week.

Day 143 {Ugliness}

This power line isn't in my neighborhood, but we have similar ones lining our streets.  They are so ugly, but fortunately we won't always have to look at them because the city has started the process of putting the lines under ground in our neighborhood.  I can't wait for this eye sore to be gone.

Day 142 {Sunset}

Can you hear the sizzle of the sun hitting the pacific ocean?

Day 141 {Pretty in Pink}

This is a lamp I shot while shopping at IKEA.  It isn't pink, but the low light gave the picture such an ugly yellow tone that I decided to change it to pink in photoshop.    I like it much better this way.  :)

Day 137 thru 140

Day 140 {No Bubble's}

I love bubble shots, but I haven't ever taken any.  Why is that?  Probably because my girls are past the, let's sit outside and chase bubbles stage.  But we still have a huge container of bubbles.  So I tried to get some bubble shots today.  Tried and failed.  Apparently you need a bubble blower in order to get bubble shots.  Either that or it is just plain hard to do, because it was impossible to do alone.  So all you get is the wand with the blue sky background.

Day 139 {Green thumb?}

Hubby planted some tomatoes.  I am hoping that someone (Jim) remembers to water them so that we will have some yummy home grown tomatoes this summer.

Day 138 {One Crafty Kid}

Kate went to a friends birthday party and the birthday girls older sister (Hi Riley) taught the girls to make sock monsters.  Kate already had the book but found the directions a little confusing so having Riley give a hands on demonstration was a perfect way to get her started.  Kate already has plans for making many many more of these cuties.

Day 137 {Banana Muffins}

My mom dropped by with a container full of banana muffins.  I actually resisted eating any of them, but I hear they were really good.

Day 130 thru 136

Day 136 {May Gray}

My bouganvilla's are in full bloom right now and seeing them always makes me smile!  What doesn't make me smile is all the gray weather we get here on the coast during the month of May (and part of June).  This shot was taken with me looking up into the sky.  So blah!

Day 135 {Warming up for a long day}

We were up at 4:00 a.m. to help my mom out with a 5K run that she was putting on for a Nursing convention that was in town.  We set up the continental breakfast and a friend of mine warmed up the crowd with some aerobics.  I told my friend that she would probably be my picture of the day and she suggested I shoot the breakfast set up instead.  :)

Day 134 {Girl Scouts}

Tee hee hee hee hee.........a surprise foot in the middle of my shot is enough to send a group of 6th grade girls into a laugh attack.

Day 133 {Sedated haze photo}

Tip for the day: If you are having a medical procedure that requires you to be sedated, take your picture of the day before the procedure.  Otherwise you get a shot like this one!!!  Hmmmmmm!

Day 132 {Warming my toes}

I had to fast today and prepare for the procedure I was having done on Friday.  It was kind of cold in the house so I stepped out front to get a little sun.  Not sure what kind of flowers these are, but they looked so pretty soaking up the sun.

Day 131 {Self Portrait}

Look a bunch of mini mes!

Day 130 {When opportunity knocks}

Hmmmm......I guess there is no hope that Molly is going to bark in a Lassie fashion to inform me that the wind has whipped my sheets off the clothes line.  No, much better for her to snuggle up on my clean sheets and get a little sun.

Day 125 thru 129

Day 129 {Happy Mother's Day}

Hubby had to go out of town this morning so after dropping him off the girls and I went to an art show then spent a few hours at the zoo.  At the risk of being totally cheesy I am going to compare this proud peacock to my pride of being mom to my two girls.  :)

Day 128 {Bright eyes}

My blue eyed girl.  She is so sensitive to the bright sun that it is rare for me to get a shot like this.

Day 127 {Evil evil weeds}

Here is what the foxtails on the side of our hillside looked like just before I ripped them from the earth......roots and all.  They are kind of pretty, but they are not to be ignored when you have a furry dog!!!

Day 126 {Signs of summer}

You know summer is on its way when Costco starts carrying bulk boxes of Otter Pops.

Day 125 {Cinco De Mayo}

I wasn't in the mood to take pictures today so my Cinco De Mayo shot is a drive by out the window shot.  :)  But I do love these flags.

Day 121 thru 124

Day 124 {Like Jello}

When it comes down to it I could probably compare a few of my body parts to jello, but today it is my legs.  But it's a good thing because I just got back from a four mile run/walk.  I had so much energy this morning that I ran for the longest stretch of time since I started my interval running program a month ago.  The jello part comes in because I tackled this killer hill near my house.  It was near vomit inducing, but I did it.  Yeah!

Day 123 {Wind power}

It was so warm and windy out back (which is almost always the case) that I skipped the dryer and hung the comforter and blanket out to dry.  I don't know why, but clothes hanging on a clothes line always makes me feel so domestic.

Day 122 {Don't even think about it}

I wasn't overly fond of the idea of Kate's new hang out spot being the top of the shed.  The way she is eyeballing the top of the roof I think I am going to have to let her know that I will not however be ok with her moving onto the roof!!!

Day 121 {Mr. Frostie}

Waiting for our ice cream treats at Mr. Frostie.  The extra kid on the end is a friend of Reids.  :)

Day 115 thru 120

Day 120 {I've changed my mind}

I bought these ballet flats on Thursday.  I changed my mind and returned them on Friday.  They were cute, but I decided they were a little too shiny for my taste.

Day 119 {Cuteness......thy name is Chewy}

Thursday was the last Track meet for Reid.  My pictures of her running weren't very good, so instead I present my friends baby Silky Terrier Chewy.  He came to watch the girls run, but spent most of his time sleeping.  Isn't he adorable??

Day 118 {Mellow yellow}

With all the rain we have had these yellow wild flowers have gone crazy.  They are everywhere you look and it is a site to see.

Day 117 {Track time}

Second to the last meet.  Reid ran the 400m and the 4x4 relay.  She came in third place in each event.

Day 116 {Clickety Clack}

I can't tell you all how many times I seem to drop my lens cap.  Either I drop it or I bump it while it is on my lens and it pops off (cause I don't always get it clicked in place).  There have been a number of times that I have had to back track to find it laying in the grass or dirt somewhere!!

Day 115 {Going topless}

I got up in the morning to find these strawberries sitting topless on a paper towel.  I don't know why but it just struck me as funny.
