Weekend plus one!

Day 53 {Campers}

Kate and her friends are going to camp this week.  She was a little bit nervous when I dropped her off, but she seemed to feel better once she was hanging with her buddies.

Day 52 {Polar Bear Plunge}

We went with some out of town friends to Sea World today and experienced the rare treat of being able to watch two of the polar bears rough housing in the water.

Day 51 {Cookies for sale}

Our first of many planned site sale.

This is my troops 6th year selling Girl Scout cookies, so you could say that they are seasoned professionals.  They can tell if a customer is interested in buying cookies or if that person is just going to walk right by ignoring their sweet little faces.

It is actually kind of funny the way people try not to make eye contact.  One women came out of the grocery store, put on her sunglasses, then snapped the hood of her jacket up over her head.

I understand that people hate saying no, but really.....it's ok (they are used to it).  Saying no thank you is far better than pretending they aren't there!

I am soooo guilty. I've never put on sunglasses or pulled a hood over my head but I must admit that I've averted my eyes and scurried away so I don't have to say no. Where have I been? What am I doing? I promise you I will never do that again! I was even a Brownie in something like 1952 and even though I lived in a town of 1,000 people I sold 100 boxes of cookies. My own daughter sold Girl Scout cookies. I always buy from the neighborhood kids but I guess I'm just riddled with guilt that I can't buy from everyone so I try to make myself invisible. How silly! The next time I see these girls outside the grocery store or wherever, I'm going to walk right up to them and say something like, "I'm sorry I can't buy from you because I've already bought cookies from Jennie who is in the Cactus Wren troop. Do you know her? No? Well, she is the one of the coolest girls I know. Good luck and I hope your troop has a fantastic sale this year. Keep up the good work!" Now, was that so hard? Absolutely not! THANK YOU SO MUCH for bringing this to my attention and I do so hope other old cranky women get their eyes opened too!

I bet Kate will have a great time at camp. How funny about the Girl Scout cookies. You are correct, it's best to acknowledge the girls by smiling and saying no thank you.

Hope Kate has a fun week of camping!

I love to watch the polar bears swimming!

Girl Scout cookies are scheduled to be delivered this week! Yay! I ordered extra boxes of thin mints after my husband asked if I ordered enough . . . oops, probably not, better order more!

Where are the Polar Bears -- I swear, when we were there a couple of years ago, we never could find them.

And no, I didn't ask for directions (maybe I'm a typical guy after all...)
