Day 206 and 209

Day 209 {Etsy purchase}

I got out my Etsy purchase to play with today. A kit to make glass pendants. Oh joy!

Day 208 {Sign of the times}

This church is near my house. Over the years it has become a place to worship for several different religious denominations. It is even houses a French school for children!

Day 207 {Cookies}

Day 206 {Surfers}

I wish I could say that I took this picture while floating in the ocean, but I took it from the safety of the pier. After we had dinner at one of our favorite Mexican dives down by the beach we took a stroll out on the pier.

A storm off the coast caused larger than normal waves for this time of year and the surfers were out in full force enjoying themselves.

Reid commented that as the waves passed by the the tops looked a lot like jello. In the evening light it did look a bit like the jiggly stuff!

Day 204 and 205

Day 205 {Comic Con}

Comic Con: Video games, comic books, sci-fi movies, celebrities........great people watching!

Don't ask me what comic book or video game character this lady was dressed up as.
She was just one of the many many people dressed up for the convention.
The picture was actually horribly over exposed, but after editing it I really liked the high contrast look. Especially her tutu shadow under her feet.

Day 204 {Digging in the sand}

Third time this week that we hit the beach! It was another perfect day!

Day 199 thru 201

Day 201 {Kick}

Ran down to the beach for a few hours today. Kate spent 3/4 of the time in the water boogie boarding. Kate is my no fear child, but when it comes to the ocean she has always had a healthy respect for it's power. This image was shot with my Nikon Coolpix.

Day 200 {Sunny thanks}

We had a friend over for dinner last week and these are the sunflowers he gave us. A week later and they are still going strong.

*********************************

Day 199 {Saturday treat}

Nearly every Saturday we go out to dinner. We almost always end the evening with a stop at our favorite beach ice cream shop (a place I have been going since I was a child).

As I was snapping this shot (with my Nikon coolpix) I heard a very drunk man from the outdoor bar patio next door to the ice cream shop (it's a walk up place) trying to get my 13 year old daughters attention.

"Hey lady.....hey lady in the stripe shirt." At that point I stepped off the the ice cream shop patio and directly in the mans line of vision and informed him that he was speaking to a 13 year old girl not a LADY!

His response, "OH 13 huh, so how old are you?"

You don't know how badly I wanted to take the drunk guys picture so I could make fun of him on my other blog!!! I'm sure he would have been more than happy to give me a slurred CHEESE!

Day 195 thru 197

Day 197 {Long Walk}

Instead of going to the YMCA this morning, Reid and I took the dogs on an hour and 15 minute walk.

****************************

Day 196 {License plate game}

Living in a destination city means loads of tourist. So every summer the girls get out a note pad and keep track of the different states licenses plates they find. Just driving down one row of the movie parking lot we spotted 6 different states.

************************

Day 195 {Cherry Limeade}

I finally got to experience my first Cherry Limeade at Sonic. Yum!

Day 189 thru 194

Day 194 {Recycled Art}

This piece of art was created from the lid of a tin can. Pretty neat! Makes me itch to head up to Laguna Beach for the Sawdust Festival where we will certainly find more cool art like this.

*****************************

Day 193 {A Barkmark}

Ah, hello........would you like me to stop reading my book and pay attention to you??

*******************************

Day 192 {So you think you can groom a dog?}

Friends of ours let us borrow their pet clippers this weekend, because at $95.00 a visit we thought that it would hurt to see if we could figure out how to groom Xena ourselves. This was what I saw after my husband had a go at her.

Reid and I managed to fix her up and I have to say that she doesn't look half bad. But I'm thinking that $95.00 a pop doesn't look that bad anymore.

********************************

Day 191 {The Frozen Bra}

I'm always surprised when I find out that my girls and their friends know about things like, freezing someones bra while at a sleepover. They froze my daughters bra.....with her permission!

**************************

Day 190 {Sleep Over Cup Cakes}

The girls and I made some special cupcakes for their summer sleepover. They were fun and fairly easy to make (and yummy).

*******************************

Day 189 {Teen Tips and Tricks}

Using an index card to keep from getting mascara on your upper eye lid. These some of the many tricks one might gain from reading "Seventeen" magazine.

Day 186 thru 188

Day 188 {What's for breakfast}

French Toast anyone?

***********************

Day 187 {Toys from long ago}

If you grew up in the 70's you probably remember these cool magic twisty worms. Still as fun as it was back then.

***************************

Day 186 {Sunday Grilling}

Sunday is now Jim's day to make dinner! Grill baby grill.

Day 181 thru 185

Day 185 {Happy 4th of July}

I probably should have looked up some tips on shooting fireworks before giving it ago, but I'm into winging it! As a result my shots headed straight for the trash, but I do like this silhouette of the girls.

************************
Day 184 {The New Suit}

Not something I normally would have picked, but for goodness sakes it fit the girls and it actually looked good! Ok, make that decent.

*******************************

Day 183 {Fair Tradition}

The first thing we always do when we get to the fair is cram into a photo booth and take our picture. This year it was just me and Kate so we had a little bit of room to spare.

******************************

Day 182 {Summer the Cat}

This is my fat cat Summer. We adopted Summer 10 years ago on our way to a 4th of July BBQ from a group of little kids standing on the corner hocking a litter of kittens.

***********************************

Day 181 {Thank you flowers}

These are the lovely flowers our house guest left for me.
