Day 141 thru 144

Day 144 {Getting crafty}

Feeling inspired by a project on the cover of the May/June issue of Cloth Paper & Scissors I dragged out my craft supplies and got to work.

I loved the colors of the cover art so much that I am pretty much copying the look.  I don't have a lot of experience with mixing paint colors so it helps to be able to follow someone's lead.  That is usually all it takes to get my own creative juices flowing.

I'm just waiting for the gel medium to dry before I can move on to painting.  If you want to see what the magazines finished project looks like just click on the link above.  If mine turns out well I'll share it later this week.

Day 143 {Ugliness}

This power line isn't in my neighborhood, but we have similar ones lining our streets.  They are so ugly, but fortunately we won't always have to look at them because the city has started the process of putting the lines under ground in our neighborhood.  I can't wait for this eye sore to be gone.

Day 142 {Sunset}

Can you hear the sizzle of the sun hitting the pacific ocean?

Day 141 {Pretty in Pink}

This is a lamp I shot while shopping at IKEA.  It isn't pink, but the low light gave the picture such an ugly yellow tone that I decided to change it to pink in photoshop.    I like it much better this way.  :)

I wish our city would bury the lines. Ugh, they get in the way of everything I want to shoot outside. If I'm patient, I will clone them out, but that's a lot of work.

Love the picture of your sunset!

ok, you need to show the finished project....I am curious how it will look. Is it for the wall? I couldn't tell from the link.

I really hate looking at our power lines too...fortunately through the spring and summer they are blocked by trees!

Gorgeous sunset! I hate power lines too - they often mess up my photos!

I can't believe, with California getting a great amount of its power from Arizona (via the Colorado River) that you are going to be the lucky dogs to get underground lines in older neighborhoods. Our local power company says they will NEVER do it because of the cost and also the difficult of locating problems when there is a power outage ultimately requiring digging up lines! I actually have a power pole in my front yard (yes, in the middle - not on the corner) that had been covered with a vine for at least 45 years, and last year the power company came by and cut it down! I have the ugliest front yard in the neighborhood!

all great photos! sorry i've been such a slacker...this senior year stuff has consumed me or depressed me one, i'm not sure which it is. lol..my family is coming to Cali for Devyn's senior trip. we are going to LA/hollywood- i am wondering if you have any suggestions for us for our 4 days there. it seems very hard to decide what is worth seeing or doing via the internet.

WOW, great new shots!! I love the first one, it's so full of colour and fun!!
And the sunset is really beautiful with the house in the foreground. It seems as I could here the waves.
And the IKEA lamp ... you won't belive, but this lamp is hanging in the livingroom of a friend. It looks so fantastic, but you need the right room for this kind of lamp.
Hugs, maike

Oh yes, I do hope you will show us your finished project!

Underground wires sound wonderful! We lose electricity a couple of times of year due to ice or someone hitting a pole or.... I can't imagine the expense of burying the wires though.

Okay,

Out of fear of retribution, I did NOT go back and comment on all the pictures that I've missed -- but I did look at them.

Love the shot of the caveman foot :)

And Glee -- I LOVE Glee (and that's a more coherent shot than some I have taken lately...)

The sun sinking into the warm Pacific makes me homesick for a place I've never lived. I'm coming back to San Diego, soon! Mark my words.

I'm sorry to be so neglectful Michelle. I miss seeing your blog regularly, I'm not sure how life keeps getting in the way (I don't really feel like I'm accomplishing anything meaningful :)

I'll try to be a better friend.

Very cool shots Michelle, I couldn't get the link for your project in the first shot...I'm curious as to what you're doing. Love the last photo from Ikea...it makes me think of coral or something.
